This is Sparta

Seeing today our vineyards below the the slopes of Taygetos, the mind is trapped by the beauty and of this place. Yet. It is an ancient place and it seems that since it was the land of Spartans, until today gives indeed a special wine.

The viticulture in Laconia reflected in historical sources as early as the late Roman and early Byzantine period. Later, during the Byzantine and post-Byzantine times it seems that there was wide dissemination of the culture and strong trade. However all the elements and in particular the agricultural production process seems to follow a long tradition that is lost in classical times and even further back.

Especially in ancient Sparta it was known that newborn baptized into the wine to see if they have strong constitution as well as the fact that every citizen necessarily contribute to food and wine. Laconia is a part of Greek land with rich history and as we often say "intense place, strongly and the wine."
